A few weeks ago, one of the lawyers in my breakfast networking group announced to the room that I was the happiest person he’s ever met – babies included. This was a huge compliment to me, because one of the reasons I became a life coach was because I believe that everyone on Earth deserves to be happy. I don’t believe we were put on Earth to suffer.
We each have the opportunity to choose to be happy – no one can take us away with us. A piece of Cory Booker’s speech at the Democratic National Convention this past week really struck me:
“Cynicism is a refuge for cowards, and this nation is – and must always be – the home of the brave.”
You see, it’s really easy to be a cynic today. Misery loves company, and it’s easier to complain together than it is to celebrate together. Isn’t that wild?
So today, I invite you to courageously choose happiness. Because when you choose happiness, your show others that it’s safe to do so. Your choice can cause a ripple effect, and if anything is ever going to change our world – it’s happy people.
Have you ever thought about this? Today, I want you to reflect on this:
What blocks me from being happy? What makes me happy? What am I willing to do to make that a bigger part of my life?
Leave your answers in the comments below – I read every response and sincerely look forward to connecting with you here.
To your self-defined success,
Alionka
